Trial of accessible Electric Vehicle Charging in Dundee

Electric Vehicle charging

Duku Design and Urban Foresight are currently working on 2 projects to improve the accessibility of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure for disabled people. The first of these projects, funded by Scottish Enterprise and Transport Scotland, looks to develop tools that will make charging an electric vehicle easier and quicker at existing charge point infrastructure. The second project, funded by Innovate UK, looks to develop an accessible EV charger.

As part of these projects, Duku Design and Urban Foresight are running a trial to test the prototype:

  • Date: 16 March 2022 (all day) and 17 March 2022 (morning only)
  • Location: Marchbanks, 34 Harefield Road, Dundee, DD2 3JW

They are keen to have as many disabled people as possible to trial the prototypes. They will ask people to simulate charging an electric car using different prototype tools, and ask questions about their experience and how the prototypes can be improved. Refreshments will be provided, and reasonable travel expenses up to 25 miles from the event location can also be paid.

If a disabled driver currently drives an electric car, they will ask questions about their current charging experience, but people will not need to have previous experience to participate in this trial.
