Glasgow Airport to Pilot Special Assistance Passenger Support App

Glasgow Airport is trialling an app to ensure all passengers who require additional support get the help they need. Approximately 25% of requests for special assistance are made on the day of travel and are not pre-arranged for a number of reasons.  The PRM Assist app will supplement the current service which is usually pre-arranged by the passenger via their airline or booking agent. ScotRail warns customers to expect significant disruption during the latest round of strike action by RMT members of Network Rail.

The dispute does not involve ScotRail staff, however, it will have a major impact on the train operator’s ability to provide services as the RMT planned action involves Network Rail staff in Scotland. Network Rail RMT members are currently voting on a pay offer, which is due to close on Monday, 12 December. Even if strike action is called off after that vote, it would take the rail industry at least 48 hours to restore a normal service. Hate Crime Charter Relaunches

On Wednesday 26 October Disability Equality Scotland joined the relaunch of the National Hate Crime Charter, a zero-tolerance policy to hate crime on Scotland’s public transport network. We are asking key organisations to commit to this policy to actively challenge the status quo around hate crime in Scotland where within this disability makes up 11% of hate crimes in Scotland and 97% of disability hate crime goes unreported. On Thursday 28 April 2022, we hosted a webinar in partnership with Transport Scotland about the Scottish Government’s strategy to reduce car kilometres, and the needs of disabled people in supporting a national reduction in car travel. A group of researchers from the University of Bath are conducting focus groups to understand Scottish people’s experiences of travel, and to gather feedback on some materials they have designed about travelling around Scotland. Focus groups will be running online and will last for approximately one hour.
